Summer 2025 Schedule
5 Week Classes Run June 23 - July 24 Levels for Summer
Level 1 (Beginning/Adv. Beginning)
Dancers with more experience can consider our Intensive Program
Classes
Youth Ballet
Ages: 8+
Class length: 1 hour
The foundation of all dance forms. Body placement, flexibility, alignment, strength and technique are achieved through barre and center floor work based on a variety of techniques. Class will have a strong emphasis on classical technique with advanced levels incorporating contemporary movements. Students will also learn ballet vocabulary and a basic introduction of dance kinesiology.
Youth/PreTeen Tap
Ages: 8+
Class length: 1 hour
This form of dance teaches the student the basic fundamentals of tap sounds and steps leading to advanced rhythms and syncopation. Students develop coordination of mind and body and a more perceptive sense of rhythm, timing and phrasing.
Youth Jazz
Ages: 8+
Class length: 1 hour
This popular form of dance incorporates many styles such as contemporary and theatrical. Jazz is the dance style of the stage, screen and music videos. The classes include a warm-up, isolations, across-the-floor work and technique
ending with choreography set to music.
Youth Hip Hop
Ages: 8+
Class length: 1 hour
A high energy, high impact class exploring current styles of movement seen on TV and in music videos. Inspired by the urban hip hop music.
Youth/Pre-Teen Musical Theater
Ages: 8+
Class length: 1 hour
Introduces the three basic skills of musical theater: acting, singing and dancing. Combines those three skills to produce scenes and musical numbers. Emphasis is placed on following stage directions, developing self-confidence and creating characters for acting. Focus is placed on breath, tone and projection for singing. Also, we begin to understand how to use the body and learn basic movement for dancing.
Shuffling and Shapes
Ages: 8+
Class Length: 1 hour
Shuffling started in the 1980’s and is now mainly used to dance to house music. Shuffling consists mostly of two main moves: The running man and the T step, while Cutting Shapes involves more intricate steps! We will be learning moves from both of these styles, and putting them into fun and challenging combinations!
Youth Gymnastics
Ages: 6-12
Class length: 1 hour
Boys and Girls will continue the skills learned in the earlier classes and further focus on vault, tumbling (round-offs and back- walk- overs), bars (pull-over and back hip circle), and balance beam. This class continues to teach the fundamentals of gymnastics as well as enhancing self-esteem, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, form and focus.

Movement classes can only be taken if also enrolled in technique
Class length: 1 - 1 1/2 hours
Technique: Ballet and Conditioning
The foundation of all dance forms combined with full body conditioning to develop muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. Class will vary each week between ballet training and cardio, strength training, Pilates, yoga, flexibility and meditation. Body placement, flexibility, alignment, strength and technique are achieved through barre and center floor work based on a variety of techniques.
Movement**: Jazz/Contemporary/Modern
Class will vary each week between focusing on contemporary, jazz and modern dance movement. While contemporary dance provokes, expresses, and reflects through movement the point of view of the dancer and/or choreographer, jazz is the dance style of the stage, screen, and music videos. These popular forms of dance incorporate many styles by using all types of movements, from stylized to pedestrian to theatrical. The classes will focus on progressions and combinations set to contemporary music.**For the safety of our dancers, students in movement class must be enrolled in Technique class concurrently as this class will not include a warm-up.
Hip Hop
A high energy, high impact class where students will continue to explore current styles of movement seen on TV, in music videos, and inspired by urban hip hop music.
Tap
Fundamentals of tap sounds and steps leading to advanced rhythms and syncopation will be explored in this class. Students will continue to develop coordination of mind and body and a more perceptive sense of rhythm, timing and phrasing.
