Dance Instructor
Katie Huy's passion is sharing her love of dance and creative expression with her students. By celebrating our amazing ability to move our bodies, the dance space is transformed into a laboratory where experimenting with new styles and pushing our individual boundaries is safe and honored. A native of the Frederick community, Katie grew up dancing, then teaching, in Frederick studios, including 24/7 Dance Studio. A graduate of Hood College and Humboldt State University, she studied environmental sociology. Understanding an individual's relationship to social and natural systems gives Katie a more holistic perspective towards teaching young dancers and developing the whole person to be their best. Katie has enjoyed supporting students in a variety of perspectives, as instructor, mentor, program director & development, among others, for more than 20 years. Her core ballet training has been the Cecchetti Ballet Method of Technique, from which she has earned Intermediate Instructor enabling Katie to teach both students and other instructors through Grade 6 of the syllabus. Katie supports the continued education for the Cecchetti Ballet Method as the elected Vice-Chair of the East Coast Committee board of the Cecchetti Council of America. Katie lives, works, and celebrates an ever growing Frederick community with her family.
Ms. Katie will be teaching a variety of classes Wednesday & Thursday evenings. Come train with Ms. Katie!
