Andrea (Young) Hill — Artistic Director
Andrea (Young) Hill is a recent graduate of Hollins University, where she earned her MFA in Dance. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Arts with a concentration in Dance, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain and Information Systems from the Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University.
While at Penn State, Andrea performed with director Elisha T. Clark Halpin in Halpin’s company, ETCH. Following graduation, she joined Penn State as an adjunct instructor of Modern, Tap, and Hip Hop. She went on to spend six years at The Grier School, an international boarding school in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, where she served as an Assistant Artistic Director, Instructor, and Choreographer.
Andrea later joined the August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble (AWCDE) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, under the direction of Greer Reed. During her time with AWCDE, she advanced to the role of Managing Director while continuing to perform and create. Throughout her professional career, Andrea has had the opportunity to dance in works by renowned choreographers including Pascal Rioult, Jason McDole, Jon Lehrer, Kiesha Lalama, Kyle Abraham, Antonio Brown, Terence Greene, Maria Caruso, Christopher Huggins, and Sidra Bell.
Her performance career has taken her to stages and festivals across the country, including Chicago’s Jazz Dance World Congress, Pittsburgh’s Jazz Dance World Festival, California’s Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival, WHITE WAVE Festivals, and NYC’s Project Live in association with Project Dance.
Andrea’s passion for dance education and cultural exchange has also taken her internationally. She worked with the U.S. Embassy in Suriname, South America, sharing the art of dance with the citizens of Paramaribo. She later served as a Choreographer, Instructor, and Assistant Artistic Director at Estudio de Danza Maries in Monterrey, Mexico.
Andrea moved to Maryland in 2021 and has loved the opportunity to share her passion, experience, and love of dance with the students and families at 24/7 Dance Studio. In addition to her teaching and artistic responsibilities, Andrea serves as a Dance Fusion Collective (DFC) Rehearsal Director and Chair of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), supporting dancers as they develop their artistry, leadership, and commitment to the dance community. This year, Andrea is honored to step into the role of Artistic Director at 24/7 Dance Studio.
